The day everything changed
On September 18, 2022, my life took an unexpected turn when I woke up in the ER after a severe motorcycle accident. I spent 23 days in the ICU with 18 broken bones and three brain bleeds, unable to recall the events. From there, I was transferred to Craig Hospital for two months to treat a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Confused and hurting, I questioned God, "Why now?" This came after two years of sobriety, regular church attendance, and diligent rebuilding. Yet, this wasn't my first encounter with profound grief.
Before the crash: a deeper sorrow
Before the accident, I had already navigated through deep grief. I lost my fiancé, my best friend of 18 years, and the home we had built together. This profound loss left me feeling completely adrift, questioning everything I knew. Yet, it was in the depths of these challenges that a new path began to emerge, one that would eventually lead to a transformative surrender.
Where I surrendered
It was in the quiet solitude of the hospital chapel, broken, scared, and overwhelmed, that I finally cried out to God. "God, I really need You. I really did it this time." In that moment of complete vulnerability, I surrendered. This pivotal experience became the turning point, marking the beginning of my restoration and laying the foundation for LUVFUL.
Born again, refined by fire
"I am blessed with the ultimate new beginning — I am born again and refined by fire." My life is now better than anything I could have imagined. As Ephesians 3:20 reminds us, "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us." Glory to God. Hallelujah.
